Contestants in the men’s race chase a cheese down the steep gradient of Cooper’s Hill during the annual Bank Holiday tradition of cheese-rolling on Monday in Brockworth, Gloucestershire, England.
Although no longer a officially organized event since 2009, thousands of spectators still gathered to watch contestants from around the world tumbling down the 200m slope, which has a 1:1 gradient in parts, in a series of races that are said to date back hundreds of years, with the winner of each receiving a cheese. Injuries such as broken arms and legs are commonplace. (Photo by Matt Cardy/Getty Images)
Don’t worry, you’re not seeing triple: The Carolina Hurricanes put all their Staals in their starting lineup.
The Hurricanes had brothers Eric, Jordan and Jared Staal on the line that started the game Thursday night against the New York Rangers.
Jared Staal was called up from Charlotte of the AHL on Wednesday and coach Kirk Muller said he probably would skate on Jordan’s line.
But Muller pulled a game-time surprise by putting all three on the starting line. (Photos: Grant Halverson/Getty Images)
HOPE YOU HAD LUNCH ALREADY: Subway made a statue out of sandwich materials of Georgia linebacker (and potential top NFL draft pick) Jarvis Jones. It is mildly terrifying. Maybe because we aren’t raisin people — his dreadlocks are made of 1,000 of them. (Photos: Diane Bondareff/Invision for SUBWAY/AP Images; Bebeto Matthews/The Associated Press)
