Weird injury of the day: Spurs forward Stephen Jackson has left San Antonio’s game against the Knicks after spraining his right ankle when he crashed into a waitress working the sideline in front of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
And The Associated Press digs a little deeper: “It was unclear if the waitress was serving Bloomberg, who was seen eating a box of popcorn shortly after the play.”
Thunder reach NBA final: For all the points, rebounds and assists that filled Kevin Durant’s impressive stat line, it was a defensive play he made that fired up his coach and teammates.
“That’s his first charge of the year,” Russell Westbrook interjected when Durant was asked about drawing an offensive foul against Manu Ginobili in the fourth quarter of Oklahoma City’s 107-99 win in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals on Wednesday night.
Indeed, it was.
The league’s three-time scoring champion had 34 points and 14 rebounds while playing all of regulation for the first time all season, leading the Thunder into the NBA finals.

Gregg Popovich wanted some “nasty.” The San Antonio Spurs obliged, and they’ve now tied NBA history.
Not to mention left the Oklahoma City Thunder agonizing about what could have been.
Manu Ginobili scored a playoff-high 26 points and the Spurs won their 19th in a row to tie the NBA record for longest winning streak kept alive in the playoffs, beating the Thunder 101-98 in the Western Conference finals opener on Sunday night.

NBA general managers weighed in on the season so far in a NBA.com survey, and 75% believe the Heat will win the NBA Finals. That’s not so bad. But the Post’s Eric Koreen collected five of the most ridiculous answers. Did they get their interns to fill it out? Photo: REUTERS/Andrew Innerarity
