Cam Cole: Canada looks destined for silver in Olympic team figure skating
If there is anything at all — even a scrap of truth — to the story of a Russia-U.S. judging conspiracy, the deal must have been worked out a long time ago.
A time when there was some doubt. A time, unlike this week, when the Russian figure skating team wasn’t sure it could win and wanted to shorten the odds.
Those doubts, if they ever existed, have been blown away by a series of surpassing Russian performances in the first two days of the Olympic figure skating team competition — each more lustily cheered than the last by the host country’s loud, proud, chanting fans.
And Canada, which came in as the No. 1-ranked skating country, looks destined to take silver. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (Photo: Jean Levac/Postmedia Olympic Team)
