This is probably the saddest Brett Lawrie photo of all time.
The Toronto Blue Jays third baseman suffered a right calf injury and had to leave the game after he fell into a deep camera well while chasing a foul ball in Yankee Stadium.
Lawrie leaped above the railing and had the ball in his glove for a split second as he attempted a leaping catch. Then he flipped over and appeared to bang his leg on another railing before landing on his back.
He was hopping on one leg before training staff and manager John Farrell rushed to attend to him. After a brief consultation, they took him out of the game.
